ABOUT US

A FAMILY BARN

Since 1949, Kelsey Farm has been teaching young people to ride. Rooted in a long family tradition of horsemanship, sportsmanship and skill, our commitment is that our riders be safe, have fun and ride well. Kelsey Farm is hands on! Students groom, tack up, learn horsemanship and develop a connection with their horses. We teach classical hunter seat equitation and versatile, effective riding. Our students are as comfortable in competition as on the trails.

Philosophy

We offer a safe space for kids to compete, learn, play, get dirty and find their best selves. A haven of acceptance, mutual respect and dedication to the sport of horseback riding, we are home away from home to many of our students.

At Kelsey Farm, we want to cultivate more than riders; we foster compassionate, hard-working small humans. Horsemanship is unusually suited to this, requiring strength and athleticism, but also patience, humility, and focus. We understand that good riding and good horsemanship go hand in hand.

Facilities

Our farm features year-round turnout in paddocks equipped with run-in sheds; both indoor and outdoor arenas; a miniature cross-country course; eleven box stalls and a heated tack room with viewing area. We have direct access to the Greenwich riding trails.

Pegasus - postponed 2021

Since 1989, Kelsey Farm has proudly donated the use of ponies and facilities to the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Program on a weekly basis. We recognize the profound benefits that can come from pairing differently-abled persons with horses and ponies. The gentle, safe nature of our animals make them ideal for the Pegasus program.
